Before I get stuck into this review, I just want to explain a little about my hair history first. I have naturally bright blonde hair, and during my first year at University I had dyed it bright pink for most of the time. Then last year in January, just as I was getting bored of pink and wanted to go back to blonde, the unthinkable happened.
The pink dye had actually stained my blonde locks! I tried everything to remove it, from washing up liquid to washing powder (of which I actually ended up on the phone to 111 after accidentally getting some in my eye!). After a while I came to terms with the fact I would simply have to wait for it to grow out, and here I am now over a year later, and it’s still only half grown out. Recently I was thinking to myself that although I’ve waited all this time to get rid of it, I did actually love having pink hair, and after all you’re only young once!
|(bottle after use – hence why it looks a little roughed up!)|
When Colour-Freedom got in contact and asked if I would like to review their hair dye, I went for it! The initial plan was just to dip dye it, so essentially making the pink brighter over where it was already stained. However minutes before applying it I just thought, what the hell! And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my thought process on why I now have a full head of pink hair.
Thankfully I had my partner on hand to help me out, as he has done many times before – he’s the best! I was sent the extra large bottle of Pink Pizazz hair dye, and although the size was perfect for the amount of hair I have, the back did come out a little patchy. I’m actually happy with how this looks, however I would suggest purchasing another bottle if you have longer hair than me.
My hair still feels just as strong and healthy as it was before, so it gets two thumbs up from me! This hair dye is supposed to last 6 to 10 washes, however on light hair such a mine, I can imagine it will last longer. In an attempt to avoid staining, I followed the directions precisely and left the dye on for just 30 minutes – as usually I would leave semi-permanent dye on for over an hour. So I will just have to wait and see how long this one will last! Oh pink hair, how I’ve missed you.
