I had the amazing opportunity to see McBusted live in Sheffield last month, and they did not disappoint! Prepare for the longest blog post EVER (with spoilers!). This is not a boasting post, I’ve been asked by several people to post this and I purchased the tickets with my own money. You probably think it’s really sad to hear that Busted and McFly have always been up there with my favourite bands, even in secondary school I’d sing along with my friends to Busted songs, especially ‘that’s what I go to school for’!

The morning the McBusted tickets went on sale, I had set my alarm and made sure I was on the Nottingham Arena site ready for the release. The site crashed (what a surprise) and once it had recovered about 20 minutes later, all the tickets had gone. I was so gutted as I had my heart set on going. I had to start looking at other venues but they were all the same, however I stumbled across Sheffield Motorsport arena and they still had spaces left. These were in the VIP section but it was a once in a lifetime chance to see them so we went for it! Purple tickets and seated in row F – clearly it was fate! I have no regrets opting for it, and it really made the whole trip to Sheffield special.
After Josh and I almost missed our coach by minutes to get to Sheffield, we settled down for a 4 hour journey. Once navigating our way around the city we came across two hotels both called the Holiday Inn so we were unsure which one to go to. I’m smiling while writing this because I remember turning to Josh and saying, “well that one there can’t be ours, it’s much too fancy!”. Turns out it was, and I’m obviously just not used to fancy things! The hotel was gorgeous. I mean, really gorgeous. I had to force myself out of starfishing the bed to get ready to go to the arena.
We caught a taxi there, and giggled as we walked past the huuuuge queue of excited teenagers, and instead went into a red door where there was no line at all. Inside there must have only been about 8 round tables that seated 8 people each, however as there weren’t enough people to fill them up completely, Josh and I were seated to a table of our own.

Included in our VIP package was a meal before the show, but I’d already eaten before going so skipped the first two courses. I couldn’t resist tucking into the dessert though, I mean could you stop yourself? Even the case surrounding the chocolate mousse was edible!
Once we’d finished our meals and drinks, we took our seats to watch the supporting acts, which frankly in my opinion were terrible. I did not want to watch 14/15 year old boys make sexual innuendos and play music that wasn’t to my taste at all, thanks! Between each act we were able to go back to the VIP lounge so at least we didn’t have to suffer through all of the supporting acts – sorry!

Then there was this excitement in the air, and when the screens came on everyone just went wild! It was a clip of the Busted press conference where they announced their split, and I don’t think anyone was expecting to see that. Matt and James walk out of the press conference to say goodbye to each other, and James gets into a car and drives off. Then James from the future runs in and tells Matt that they have to go back! “Back where?” Matt replies.
“Back to the future!”.
Next comes shots of the McBusted show about to become a McFly show, but just as McFly are about to come out on stage the DeLorean is fixed and Matt and James come down onto the stage in an actual DeLorean! From that point on I just sang, screamed and danced along to each song, it was the best. night. ever.
So enough talking – I bet you want to see more photos!

SO if you have managed to make it this far, I applaud you! Here – have a virtual cookie. Want more McBusted? Check out the video below to see a few clips from the night! A few are a bit blurry and it’s my first time editing so it’s not perfect, but every time I watch the video it makes me smile!
It didn’t come across strange at all that McFly were singing Busted songs and vice versa, they fitted together so well, and there was a lot of bromance on the stage! I’m really happy my anxiety didn’t play up, the crowd itself just looked like something from a TV screen so I didn’t think too much about it, if anything it was just really loud! I was a little disappointed they didn’t play Fake or She Wants To Be Me, but I guess they couldn’t play every single song both bands have ever made! There are a lot of photos of Tom as that was his ‘area’ on the stage for the performance – although I wasn’t complaining! *wink wink*
It was an amazing show, and the energetic vibe from the crowd was just surreal. After the show Josh and I almost got lost in Sheffield after getting off at the wrong stop on the tram, but I finally face-planted the pillow in the hotel bedroom and fell asleep dreaming of McBusted.
Hope you enjoyed having a flick through the photos! What’s your favourite Busted/McFly song?
