When I recently dyed my hair pink, I realised I needed to buy some hair care products that wouldn’t just strip the colour out. Fortunately for me, there was a 3 for £10 deal at Boots on selected L’Oreal Hair Expertise products! The question is, how did they fare against my hair?
L’Oreal Hair Expertise Colour and Volume Shampoo
This shampoo is my new favourite for coloured hair, and it really does make it shinier! The consistency is quite thick, so getting it out of the tube can be quite the challenge. It lathers up nicely, and the Jasmine scent is quite pleasant. I think this is also a product I can get away with using on my hair even when the pink fades!
L’Oreal Hair Expertise Colour and Volume Conditioner
This conditioner made my hair flat and greasier after just a day or two after use, so I ended up washing my hair more often to combat this. Unlike the shampoo, the conditioner has a mint scent which is weird because you think they would have the same smell. But the scent of this conditioner is just too much! I want to love this product, but it really doesn’t work well with my hair.
L’Oreal Hair Expertise Intense Mask
I’m just going to go ahead and say it, this mask stinks. Out of all three of these products, this is truly the most overpowering! I would only bring myself to use this if my hair was really, really damaged. The product itself is good though, it keeps hair looking healthy, while maintaining colour.
The Hair Expertise range is sulphate free, but although my hair did feel smooth and nourished, it didn’t feel clean. It might be that I’m so used to using other shampoos and products on my hair that contain different chemicals, that when something like this comes along, it’s just too different for me to like or even get used to.
All in all, I suppose these products did keep my hair pink for longer than if I had used regular hair products. Currently there’s a 2 for £8 deal at Boots on selected L’Oreal Hair Expertise products, so if you have dry or damaged coloured hair, these may be worth a look.
