Yesterday I attended my first ever blogger meet up, so I thought I’d just put together a quick post about it while it’s still fresh in my mind! Unfortunately I left my camera at home, so I don’t have any pretty photos of my own to show you except for ones I managed to grab on my phone.
The Nottingham blogger meet up was organised by the lovely Becka and Sophie. We all met up at Zizzi’s for 1pm, and I was pretty nervous walking in on my own. This isn’t something I usually do, throwing myself into a social situation where I don’t know anyone else. Actually, it isn’t like me at all! It was a completely spontaneous decision on Twitter a few days ago when I heard there were spaces left for the #NottsBloggerMeet. To be honest, I’m so glad I took a step out of my comfort zone because all the ladies I met were simply lovely to talk to. I took a train from Lincoln to Nottingham, which is also something I’m very new to. Luckily my boyfriend didn’t mind coming along for the journey, so I was very thankful for that! Plus it was such a lovely day so I spent most of the journey staring out the window.

I just wore something really casual for the meet up (leggings, denim skirt, black top and red checkered shirt), and used Collection 2000 nail polish lasting gel in vixen red on my nails. Once seated at the restaurant, we all wrote out name badges for ourselves and it was fun trying to match people up to their twitter accounts and blogs. We also had lots of discussion about what we blog about and why etc. I was sat at the end of one of the tables, so I didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone which was a shame, but just another excuse to go to another similar meet up in the future! It was so easy to talk to everyone that attended, purely because although I’d never spoken to them before, we’re all very like minded people and can easily talk about blog-related things.
The tables looked fantastic with goodie bags on each chair, and floral boxes scattered across which contained delicious shortbread biscuits and a sweetie. As we were ordering drinks, Harlequin Cosmetics did a brilliant talk, and even brought a few handmade goodies along with them for use to try! I loved the purple rain soap, and the body butters were gorgeously thick and very moisturising.
I was really happy with the location and restaurant for the meet up, as I’m terribly picky with food – and also a vegetarian! So Zizzi’s is perfect for a girl like me. I skipped having a starter as I had a sandwich on the train and didn’t expect it to fill me up as much as it did. I had a margherita pizza and a chocolate melt for dessert. And ohmygosh, they tasted so good! I’ll definitely be ordering the same when I next go to Zizzi’s.

I couldn’t go shopping with the girls after the meal unfortunately, however on the walk back to the train station, I nipped into Superdrug and purchased a “few” treats for myself. I was so shattered from only having 2 or 3 hours sleep the night beforehand, so ended up sleeping on the train home and I jumped into bed for a nap as soon as I got back to the flat. I avoided temptation to look at my goodie bag until now as I’m writing this post. But wow! I’m really impressed and happy with what I was given, products from Lush, Harlequin Cosmetics, Nair, Kiss and so many others! I just wasn’t expecting so much, and it was very generous for all the companies involved to provide such lovely treats.

As you can see from the Superdrug haul, I caved and bought L’Oreal Miss Manga again! I also purchased a lot of nail related treats to give nail art a go. I’ll probably post a review/how-to on these products but in a different post.
A lot of effort was put into making this meet up happen and run as smoothly as it did. I had a lovely time and would be more than happy to attend such events again in the future! So a massive thank-you to Becka and Sophie for organising such a great meet up, especially as it was my first and I didn’t know what to expect. As I didn’t get to speak to everyone who attended, I would love it if you send me your links or twitter names so I can get a chance to meet you.
Once again, what a fantastic day it was! Have you ever been to a blogger meet up?
